A Reason to Swoon?

Have I the mental and physical wherewithal to make a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post? The question is not rhetorical. I think I am getting arthritis in my knuckles. I was having a very painful time trying to write in the TV Journal earlier. Suddenly stylus picking is a more attractive option. What a depressing thought! No more hand writing? No more ten-finger typing? SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!

The beauty part is, now it seems I have a really good reason to swoon, posed dramatically with the back of one wrist against my forehead. I would love to insert a photo here but cannot find one.

Earlier today I went on a long run. It tired me out too much to feel like making a Running Commentary Post. I started to watch movies, hoping for a Sunday Cinema Post. However, I HATED the first movie I chose so much I got discouraged. I should have turned it off twenty minutes into it, as I was strongly tempted to do, but I was curious as to when it would get exciting and how it would end (very late in the picture and badly).

So here I sit without much to say. Best thing to do in these cases is to keep it sort. I hope to see you all again on Monday.

Who, Me? Write?

I actually started writing a real post yesterday while I was at work. You see, I had a stern talk with myself about Writing More. To that end, I did NOT bring a puzzle book to work but only a notebook (the paper, spiral-bound kind) and pen (um, and my lunch, safety glasses, phone, purse, etc.). And my meager brain. It was not enough to get the job done.

Oh, I wrote a page of my usual breezy stuff, concerning Kim’s and my visit to The Saalty Dog Saloon. I probably could have finished it. However, right now, I am ten-finger typing on my laptop. The pictures from the saloon are on my Tablet, which is upstairs. Me, go upstairs again? Wait for the laptop to turn on, have trouble logging in (it has this thing when you first power it up), and one-letter-peck with the stylus (if I have not lost the pen again)? I suppose I could, but right now I am enjoying to ten-finger type. I really must get a new laptop so I can do this more often.

In the meantime, since this blog is also a kind of a record of my Writing Endeavors (which may or may not deserve the capitalization), I will record that I am once again having the damnedest time. I have said it before and I will say it again: Sometimes you cannot just put yourself in front of a blank page and say, “Write! Write, damn you!” Oh well, perhaps some of you can. I cannot.

What can I do? That seems a better approach than lamenting what I cannot. To begin with, it seems I am very adept at writing about Not Writing. I don’t imagine I can get a novel out of that. Or can I? I close the blog and begin to brainstorm this promising start.

And My Finger Is Sore

This is going to be a short, grumpy post. Oh, and a late post. I am sitting on my couch, icing my suspected tennis elbow (not diagnosed, because the insurance at my new job hasn’t kicked in yet), sipping coffee, and pecking away at my Tablet, using my finger, because I left (or lost) my stylus pen upstairs. I guess these are what they snarkily call First World Problems. I call it pissing (no, not kissing, autocorrect!) and moaning about nothing in particular.

That was a long paragraph for me.

I took a long run yesterday. It would have made a great Running Commentary Post, if I had remembered all the in-head narration with which I entertained myself as I went. These thing very often do not work out for me.

I mowed the lawn but did not do enough else to make a Lawn Order Post eligible. Likewise my movie viewing was insufficient for a proper Cinema Sunday Post.

So this is my Late Post About Not Making a Post Yesterday. I really must replace my laptop and get back to ten-fingered typing. And make more better blog posts.

I Accomplish a Monstrous Monday Post

Before starting work this morning and again on break, I worked on a blog post. In addition to not having completed it (I think the last thing I wrote was, “Where was I going with this?”), I do not feel like sitting up at the laptop and typing it in. I really must get a new laptop, so I can lounge on the couch and ten-finger type in comfort. At my age, posture is a lost cause.

All this by way of introduction to another Monstrous Monday.

Is this how Monday snuck up on you?

Every Monday is the start of another chance to get my act together and work towards accomplishing my goals. I seem to remember reading somewhere that accomplishments are overrated, but I think I would like to accomplish a few things and see. One likes to have a basis for comparison.

Or one could just sleep the day away.

Most Mondays, I let myself off the hook (for example, by making Monstrous Monday Blog Post). I figure just getting through the day is enough. However today I made my lunch for tomorrow, did the dishes, and spent some time folding laundry, including putting out clothes for Tuesday and Wednesday. It is not a lot, but let us not expect miracles.

Additionally, I am over 200 words with very little effort. If I can find one more monster picture, I will be reasonably content.

I love a cloudy day.

OK, I could not find a monster I like. How about a threatening cloudy sky? Sufficiently spooky, I hope.

Fat Finger on Slacker Saturday

I had a bad bout of vertigo today and did not get much done.  I am feeling a little better now and want to make my blog post.  Unfortunately I am too lazy to sit up at the laptop and ten-finger type, and I cannot find a stylus.  Hence, my headline.

And halfway through typing that paragraph, my darling husband Steven found a pen with a stylus on his coffee table.  This is still typing not writing, as Truman Capote once said, but at least I might have fewer typos.

Regular readers will understand that I want to make a post every day, even when I do not have much of substance to say.  I started to say “feel compelled to” instead of “want to” but decided to for once be less dramatic.

I guess I am still feeling a bit lightheaded, but at least I feel better than I did earlier.  The one good thing was, I went running as soon as I got out of bed.  My first run in almost a week, and it went pretty well.  I wrote two note cards (I am just about out of post cards), which I put put on the mail box. Steven and I had a pleasant interlude sitting on the front porch, and I watched a DVR’d episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 which had me laughing out loud.

And that was my day.  Ah, one thing I did not mention was that I worked for a while on my new novel, which is still in the organizational stages.  I kind of hate to mention it, because I am afraid of jinxing myself. But I thought some people might like to know.

As usual, I apologize for the dull post.  Also as usual, I will try to do better tomorrow.  I am hoping the room will stop spinning.

I Post with a Little Help from my Friend

Speaking of these things happen, I did not make my Monday post on Monday, so here I sit Tuesday morning typing frantically.  At least, it is not really frantically, since I do not have to rush off to work or anywhere.  However, I am on the laptop, which I am rarely on lately, typing with all ten fingers, so I can make this post a little more quickly, thus posting it closer to Monday.

Bonita is mortified that I did not make my Monstrous Monday post.

I guess if I had a Scattered Sunday I can have a Wrist to Forehead Monday and post it late.  This was our skeleton Bonita back in November.  I like to change her clothes periodically.

One of my favorite shots.

I might as well make Bonita the star of this post, since right now I got nuthin’ else.  At least, I have one good thing to write about, but the pictures for it are in the Tablet and I really wanted to do some ten-fingered typing this morning.  I guess I already mentioned that, proving that I really do got nuthin’.

I do love a fashionable skeleton.

Here is a more recent picture.  Bonita does not look like this right now, because I moved her with the idea that I was going to use the footstool myself, for my lazy feet.  Steven asked, “Where’s our girl?”  I must find another seat for her soon, and perhaps another outfit.  I will be sure to share a picture of her when I do.

Rattling Out Another Late Post

I had meant to make a Sunday Cinema post, till I fell asleep during the second feature.  I am going through this phase where I would rather sleep than do almost anything else.  Incidentally, I am on our laptop. typing with all ten fingers (Full disclosure: I  tend not to use the left thumb, but nine-fingered typing sounds like I lost a finger).  Ah, Steven just brought me coffee. That will help.

We are both up earlier than our usual stupid hour of arising, me to make my blog post, Steven I think because I got up.  He is nice that way.  Anyways, this is just going to be one of my Rattle On For 200 Or So Words posts.  That is not one of my official categories, but I suppose it ought to be, since it  is what so many of my blog posts turn out to be (oh, it is MUCH more fun to type with all ten fingers than one letter at a time with the stylus) (although, come to think of it,  it is still one letter at a time.  They just follow one after the other a lot faster).

Where was I?  Apologizing, perhaps, for yet another late post.  I guess I’m not the daily blogger I thought I was.  It is kind of a depressing thought, since I did not consider myself such hot stuff as a blogger anyways.  Oh, I know people enjoy me; I was not putting myself down.  Only, I set the bar for myself kind of low. Post every day, that is my ambition.  Well, I will try to meet that standard at least, going forward from now.  In the meantime, I’m going to drink my coffee and try to do a couple of other things I didn’t get to this weekend.

Am I Lame? Or Just a Lush?

Ah yes, Lame Post Friday (why did my predictive text thingy not offer me “Post Friday” when I typed in “Lame”?  I’m just asking). I have had a long-ish week.  Not as bad as some, not as onerous as others, and I am SO ready for a three day weekend!  OF COURSE  I am grateful for said weekend.  I KNOW some people do not get one.  For heaven’s sake, I used to be one of those people,  get off my back about the gratitude already!  Sheesh!

Where was I?  Ah yes sitting on my deck, trying to make some semblance of a blog post before the wine really kicks in and I fall asleep.   Don’t judge me.

We started our evening at a wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer, NY.  So fun!  I would in fact like to write a whole blog post about it so will say no more now.  After sipping some wine we  went to the End Zone Pub and Grub on North Main Street, where we had some more wine and a little food.

There is not much else to tell about my Friday.  Only that my predictive text thingy does not seem to be offering such responsive suggestions as it has in the past.  I really must get back to ten-fingered typing.  In the meantime, this will have to do for this week’s Lame Friday Post.   I hope you are all having a delightful start to your weekend.

Please Excuse Mohawk Valley Girl…

Is this great or what?  I am typing in my blog post on an honest to goodness computer.  I am at the Martha Canfield Library in Arlington, VT.  Oh dear, any nefarious persons reading this, do not bother going to rob my house; it has NOT been left unoccupied.  Moreover, there is nothing there worth stealing.  However, if you do not believe me and try, please tidy up while you are there, because I left a mess.  My one regret is that I did not bring my reading glasses and must tilt my head at an uncomfortable angle.  How silly of me.

My other discomfort is that these keys I am typing on are not silent.  I can hear myself thump-thump-thumping on them and can only hope it does not bother any other library patrons.  At least, I don’t know if there are any other library patrons.  The parking lot was empty when I pulled in, causing me to fear the library was not open.  However, I could possibly bother the nice lady behind the desk.

Yes, this is a Wuss-out Wednesday post, which may only be enjoyed by myself, and in fact I am enjoying the ten-fingered typing so painstakingly acquired the summer before 10th grade.  It is quite my favorite skill.  What I really need to let readers know is that due to my being out of town, visiting family for a sad reason, I may not be able to post every day, for the next few.  I know, I know, I should have planned ahead, maybe had a few posts waiting in the wings.  I think we all know, I don’t work that way, more shame to me.

In any case, if and when I can get back on a library or other computer, I make a note to myself: do not forget reading glasses.  My neck does not like all this head tilting!

Library Looking Good

I went to Basloe Library in Herkimer this morning,  to get on the computer and to check on the status of their renovations.  I brought my Tablet with me to get a few pictures.  Now I am at home on my Tablet, typing in my blog post one letter at a time.  Note to self:  Next time you go to the library, plan ahead, so you can type in your blog post with all ten fingers, as God intended.

Where was I?  Ah yes at the library, admiring the surroundings.

Here’s a cozy looking area.

There were some comfortable chairs in the library before, but the last time I was in there, this space was occupied by the temporary information desk.

I especially like the big windows.

I guess I needed a flash. It is quite a sunny day today.

I like being able to look out a window when I’m writing, which is something I often go to the library to do.  With that in mind, I was really happy to see a couple of well-placed tables.

One of the tables was already in use.

I asked the nice young man if he minded being in the picture for my blog.  I told him to keep doing what he was doing, so it would be like a candid.

I hope to write more about the library renovations,  with more pictures.  In the meantime, this makes a nice change from my usual Monstrous Monday.   And I can share monster pictures later in the week.
