Perhaps a Disappointing Post

Oh crap!  I waited too long in the day to make my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, and I got nuthin’.

I could have done  Sunday Running Commentary,  although my run was neither long nor noteworthy.  I could perhaps do a Sunday Cinema post, but I have not illustrations for the movies seen, and I lack the ambition to find them.

I worked on our back yard for a while.  I did not take any pictures,  because, quite frankly, the yard is still not looking very good.

So we are left with yet another post lamenting my ability to make a decent blog post.  Can I at least share a silly picture for your amusement?

Am I pretty? Don’t answer that question.

I got myself a new headband at the dollar store while purchasing more essential supplies.  It broke today.  That was rather a disappointing development.

It has not on the whole been a disappointing day, however.  After working in the yard, my husband Steven and I sat on the front porch for a while. I have been wanting to do some porch sitting, but the weather has not cooperated.  I relished our outdoor time today.

So this how my days go: some disappointment,  something to relish, not a whole lot to blog about. What can I say?  We do what we can. Happy Sunday, folks.

Sorry, But I’m Not Apologizing

I guess we all knew this was going to be a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  I went running this morning yet did not feel a Running Commentary post welling up within me. Likewise, no amount of movie watching has made me inclined for a Sunday Cinema post.  These things happen, I suppose.

The fact is, I feel not the slightest obligation to apologize for a foolish post during this stressful time.  Clearly, to run around having Mohawk Valley adventures would be irresponsible.   I am more than willing to risk my own health.   Alas, as is so often the case,  it is not only about me.

So shall I spend the next week or two hiding behind the Corona Virus (or as I prefer to call it, Covid 19) and posting only the lamest material?  That could happen.  I maintain it is the right thing to do, because some people are entertained by my nonsense, and entertainment is a definite service in times of quarantine.

Of course I will attempt to publish the most amusing posts possible.  I fear not much is possible today,  hence my Wrist to Forehead status.  On the other hand,  I am having a fairly enjoyable Sunday.  One cannot have everything.  Even if I have a dreadful day, I will strive to have a better blog post tomorrow.

Making Do on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

It is Wrist to Forehead Sunday,  and one reason for that is that I am posting on my Tablet.  Not only am I sitting here typing one letter at a time with the stylus, I am limited to pictures I have in my Media Library or ones I have taken with the Tablet.  I have had a Cinema Sunday but I do not have sufficient pictures for a blog post of same.

This is what we mean by Wrist to Forehead.

It’s funny how I can have a perfectly enjoyable day yet have nothing to write a blog post about.  I mean, who wants to hear about my doing laundry and grocery shopping?   Oh, well, I guess sometimes I can think is something to say about mundane chores.

I know how he feels.

I often say there are worse things than being bored.  However, I am talking about my job, not my blog.  I do not see any problem with being bored while I am doing my job, as long as I am doing it right.  But it would be very bad of me to bore my blog readers.  That is not the point is writing a blog, I assure you.

“You boring? Say it ain’t so! “

Oh, look I do have an appropriate picture, because right now we are watching The Wolf Man on a DVR’d Svengoolie.  I loves me some Svengoolie.

He looks mean.

And for good measure, here is Bela Lugosi as Bela the Fortune-teller in The Wolf Man.  Who coukd be uncheered by Bela Lugosi?

Hush… Hush, Sweet Sunday

Who wouldn’t love Bette Davis in a graveyard?

I pause during our viewing of Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte to make a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post. It has actually been an enjoyable Sunday, but I don’t know that I did anything particularly blog-worthy today.

A bit of snow fell last night, so I spent some time shoveling the driveway in lieu of running.  Full disclosure: I shoveled for less time than I would have run.  I hoped the hefting of weighty snow made up for it.

After shoveling I went to the grocery store, a chore I had meant to put off till another day.  Now I have stuff for my lunch for the week. And I had onions to put in with a pork butt roast I meant to cook.

I do not cook many roasts, and I usually do them in the crock pot, which is fairly fool-proof (or should I say Cindy-proof?). I opted for the oven this time.  I consulted Joy of Cooking, the internet, and my mother (via phone).  Then I kind of winged it.  I love cooking;  it is such an inexact science, things usually turn out tasty.

A stellar cast, but where’s Cecil Kellaway?

I just thought I’d throw in another picture from the movie for good measure.  We have not watched sufficient movies for a Cinema Sunday post.  I’ll have to work on that for next week.

“I could spit in your eye!”

Well, what’s wrong with a Bette Davis Sunday?  If only I had a martini, very dry, my life would be perfect.  Happy Sunday, everyone!

Apparently My Brain Would Die

Once again we did not watch enough movies for a Sunday Cinema post.  I had high hopes when we enjoyed  The Haunting (1963) fairly early on.

I had to scroll through my Media Library twice to find this.

I figured I might as well share a picture, to pep the post up.  After the movie we put it on Snapped while Steve fixed us some food, and we kind of got stuck on it.  Full disclosure: I’ve also been reading an Agatha Christie book.

A perennial favorite.

In the meantime, it is Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  I proudly posted on Facebook this morning my intention to be useless and not worry about it.  I was half right.  I was useless but a little worried about things I have not gotten done.  Perhaps I could still do something before bed.  Then again, I still haven’t finished that book…

Love the side eye.

There are also other movies to be watched. The Brain That Wouldn’t Die (1962) is what caught my eye first just now.

Is it clear by now that I am a little brain dead?  I took a decongestant earlier.  Drugs!  Either they don’t work at all, they work but dope me up, or they don’t work but still dope me up.  In this case, I feel marginally decongested as well as doped up, so I have to call it a win.

I am over 200 words, making my Sunday post on Sunday,  so I’ll call that a win too.  I hope to see you all on Monstrous Monday.

Psycho to Snapped on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

I have not watched enough movies for a proper Cinema Sunday, yet I am having too good a time for a real Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  Not an unmitigatedly wonderful time, mind you.  But let us not dwell on the negative.

Isn’t she pretty?

We just watched Psycho (1960). For being so popular, I must say it is one of my least favorite Hitchcock movies.  It is so ponderous.

It is a pretty creepy stare, no?

However, it is an entertaining enough flick.  We enjoy it once in a while.  I wanted to watch The Birds (1963), because this morning, a veritable horde of birds was making a lot of noise in our back yard.  A few were flying around, but most were perched in the tree just behind our deck.  They were luckily quiet when I left for the grocery store later on.

The birds I saw this morning were not so large.

But rather than watching another movie, I want to watch the new episode of Snapped, which I am in fact missing as I type this.

Who doesn’t love Snapped?

I couldn’t find my Snapped logo in my Media Library, so I just went to their Facebook page and looked for a Snapped picture.  This was the first one I saw.

And now I see I am over 200 words.  Score!  And I am making Sunday’s post ON Sunday (Freudian typo:  I first put “Sinday”).  Can I have broken the habit of late posts?  Time will tell (time is certainly a blabbermouth).

I Needed a Little Christmas

Instead of a Wrist to Forehead Sunday nor yet a Sunday Cinema, I will post about our up and coming Christmas decorations. Today was a little warmer than the past two days, so we seized the opportunity to get some lights onto our front porch.  The results fall short of other front lawn and porches, yet I feel they are worthy of some notice.

Oh yeah, we put up a couple of wreaths, too.

After impatiently waiting for the sun to go down (yes, much earlier this time of year, let us not begin that lament!), I stood across the street in the road and got this picture.  Actually, I walked into the middle of the road, but no cars were coming, so it was all right.

He looks better in real life than in the picture.

New this year, I put one of our Santas in an upstairs window.  Full disclosure:  I thought of this after I had carried said Santa from the attic to our second floor.  I did not want to carry him down another flight.  Our other Santa has been on the landing, three steps up from the ground floor, since last Christmas.  I think this Santa looks cool in the upstairs window, although he is a little washed out in the picture.  These things happen when one is not a professional photographer, as obviously I am not.

He’s older, he’s awesome, thanks Mom and Dad!

We put our older, better Santa on the porch. My Mom and Dad found him at a second hand shop when they were visiting my sister in Pennsylvania.  I just love a vintage Santa Claus!

“I’m just an angel in disguise!”

It is difficult to get a good picture of our front porch with that large tree in front, but Steven will not hear of cutting it back. Nonetheless, I tried to get a picture of the angel that graces the middle of our lights.  I hope she shows up enough for the pic.

So here is my little bit of Christmas, for the end of Thanksgiving and my birthday weekend.  Tomorrow I go back on overtime, so I hope I can still manage somewhat decent blog posts.  Time will tell (Time is certainly a blabbermouth, although I have already done that joke).  Happy Sunday, everybody!
