Now I Want Some More Wine

So I log onto WordPress and hit “Add New Post,” I confess with very little idea of what I was going to post about, and I see this:

Akismet & Privacy.

I don’t know whether to enable or disable these things, so I hit “more information.”  And it went on forever!  I don’t have time to read all this shit!  Can’t they just condense it all into a paragraph or two?  Apparently they can’t.  They say in maybe the third paragraph, “To keep things simple…”  That is when I look off to the side to see the size of the bar you can scroll up and down with.  The smaller that bar, the less likely I am to scroll.  At least this bar isn’t a teeny little rectangle. I ought to be able to read this thing.

No, I just can’t.  As I typed in the above paragraph, I kept clicking back to the tab of “Privacy Notice for Visitors,” and I just can’t do it.  In my defense, I have had a headache all day.  This sometimes happens to me on a Saturday.  Regular readers will recall that I was sipping red wine while I posted last night, and I’m sure some of you are judging me and saying I DESERVE a headache.  For heavens’ sake, I didn’t have that much wine!

Regarding today’s post:  I ran this morning and thought I could do a Saturday Running Commentary.  Unfortunately, my headache kicked in shortly after my shower.  Having a headache all day did not bode well for having adventures sufficient for a Scattered Saturday post.  I think a Slacker Saturday post might be eligible, but I just feel paralyzed by this Privacy thing.  Do I enable it or not?

I appeal to my fellow bloggers:  have any of you managed to read the entire “More Information” tab and if so, did you enable or disable?  Once I solve this problem, I feel I can go back to my regularly scheduled posting.  In the meantime, I think I’ll call this a Stymied Saturday Post.  What do you think, does that work?

Speedy Saturday Post

My plan right now is to post something really really fast, so we can get on to the movie-watching portion of the evening.  I cannot do a true Scattered Saturday, because I have not done a whole hell of a lot today. I wrote some post cards and took a very uneventful walk to the post office to mail them.  Then I waited around till it was time to go to the Utica Zoo for this afternoon’s performance of The Tempest with LiFT Theatre Company.

The performance was fun and went pretty well.  I think the audience liked us.  The Utica Zoo is a fun place to be.  I only wish I had gotten there a little earlier, so I could have gone into the gift shop and purchased some post cards.  I do like to have a variety of post cards.

After the performance, my friend Kim and I drove back to Herkimer, where we went to a brief wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquors.  Then I went home, where my dearest husband Steven was, and we got some dinner at PK’s Pub.  Yes, I could write blog posts about the wine tasting or the dinner, or, for that matter, the performance of The Tempest or this morning’s walk to the post office (yes, I know, I said it was uneventful, when has that ever stopped me?).  So many posts, so little time.

I am now over 200 words.  I call that respectable.  Maybe not  a good post, but respectable. Happy Saturday, everyone, and I hope to see you all on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Pre-Party Post

Regular readers know I adore alliteration.  I seem to be having a minor run of “P” these days.  Make what adolescent jokes you wish.  I have a mere 11 minutes to complete this post before my handsome husband Steven is due home (just throwing in a gratuitous compliment to the man there).  He will quickly change his clothes and we will arrive, as he puts it, “fashionably late”  to our friends’ anniversary party.  Being so happily married ourselves, we are delighted to celebrate with other contented couples (see, there I go again with the alliteration).

Today’s would be a Slacker Saturday post at best in any case.  Never mind why; nobody wants to hear me go on about my various ills.  I encourage myself to stop being such a big fat baby, but old habits die hard (as the nuns found out when they tried to change the color of their apparel) (I’ve been spending a lot of time on a pun page on Facebook).

I did not run this morning.  I managed to write a few post cards, although I might make out a couple more tomorrow.  I even wrote an almost letter.  At least, it was a note card in an envelope, so more space to fill.  I was sending a card with the Ilion Little Theatre schedule to a couple of club members emeritus (at least, that is how I think of them), and that was the best envelope to fit it.

There was enough time to run two errands before my rehearsal for The Tempest at eleven, but the window of my vehicle decided to get stuck halfway down (or halfway up for you optimists).  Yikes!  I drove to the dealership, where the guy who sold it to us got the window up and started to make me an appointment to get it really fixed.  Alas, I did not remember Steven’s work schedule next week (we must do these things on his day off), so I had to drive home and call the guy back.

Still, I made it to rehearsal even a little early.  I treated myself to a giant chocolate chip cookie from Ole Sal’s Creamery at Canal Place, Little Falls (just to throw in a plug for a local business).  After rehearsal I managed to finish one errand and bagged the other one.

Never mind what I did with the rest of the afternoon; remember my dictum of being less of a big fat baby.  I see it is 5:30.  Steven will be hope any minute!  I must find the fancy purse I wanted to carry to tonight’s soiree.  Happy Saturday, everyone!

P.S.  He got home while I was proofreading.
