Ah Yes, Adventures!

How about a Way Back Wednesday Post? The only question is, how way back of a picture can I find? We shall see.

Cheers!

This is my husband Steve at The Miner’s Table at the Herkimer Diamond Mines, I forget how long ago, but a few years anyways. When I wrote about The Miner’s Table for Mohawk Valley Living magazine, they used this picture with the caption, “Steve toasts Cindy, pricker bush slayer.” In the article, I mentioned we were out celebrating, because I had taken out a pricker bush in our yard that had gotten out of hand.

A quick check of Facebook tells me they open for the season April 15. I’ll have to go there again. I may not slay another pricker bush.

I miss that moose!

Here is a sad Way Back. Copper Moose Alehouse in Little Falls has sadly closed. We had some fine dinners and fun times there!

I wish I was there!

To end on a happier note, here is a place I hope to visit again soon: Prospect Falls Winery. In addition to visiting the winery, we have seen these guys at various events in the region. We usually buy a bottle whenever we have the opportunity. It is really good wine!

I like posts like this, when I have been having a lot of days where all I do is work and go home. There is more to life than work! There are Mohawk Valley Adventures!

Stop Whining and Way Back!

Here I am, having a true Wuss-out Wednesday. I had thought I might go for a run or walk after work, either of which might have been good to write about. But I wussed out. I almost wussed out of making a blog post at all, but here I am, pecking away at the Tablet (as opposed to the ten-fingered typing I enjoyed this morning).

Here’s a day I didn’t wuss out!

I searched my husband Steven’s Facebook page for a picture to make this a Way Back Wednesday Post instead. Additionally, I thought I might find one with green, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. This was an article I wrote about The Miner’s Table in Herkimer for Mohawk Valley Living magazine. I finished and emailed an article to them last night (one reason I was so tired I made my Tuesday post this morning).

A handsome couple, or do I flatter us?

Here is another photo courtesy Steven, also with a little green. This is us in May 2012, after a performance of Dirty Work at the Crossroads, a play Steven directed at Ilion Little Theatre. I played a small but pivotal role.

I guess this isn’t too bad of a blog post for Wuss-Out Wednesday. I started out pretty whiny, but I feel I recovered somewhat. And I shared a couple of pictures. I’m going to call it a win. Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Wuss Out or Shout Out?

It is Wuss-out Wednesday, I’m afraid, but I hope to add a modicum of worthiness to the proceedings with a shout-out to a local business, the Miners’ Table in Herkimer, NY.

Steven and I first went to the Miners Table on a recent Sunday, and I hope to write an article about it for Mohawk Valley Living magazine.  In fact, I have started writing the article.  Full disclosure:  I could have finished writing the article without returning to the place, but I wanted to go out.  So did Steven.  So we went.

We sat at the bar, as we did before, and ordered drinks and an appetizer.   I wandered around the restaurant with my Tablet, taking a few pictures.  I will submit the pictures with the article.  I suppose I could also use them in this post, but, like I said, this is Wuss-out Wednesday.

It was a fun interlude for mid-week.  We chatted a little with the bartender. She said it was a great place to work, where they treat their employees well. I told Steven he should apply for a job.  The appetizer we got, Hammer and Chisel Nachos, was as substantial as a meal.  I understand most people order it as a four-person appetizer, but I think it would still be pretty substantial.  The wine was tasty too.

The Miners’ Table is located at the Herkimer Diamond Mines, 4579 State Rt. 28, Herkimer, NY, 315-891-3463.
