Slacker to Snapped, At Least It’s A Post

This is not going to be much of a Saturday Post, but I hope to do better than last week, when I missed Saturday entirely.  I am pretty much ignoring a DVR’d episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 as I type this (one letter at a tome with the stylus, of course).  No loss on my part? I wonder.

There.  I stopped that and put on a Snapped On Demand. “They were a power couple…”   I just can’t get enough murder and mayhem.

But about my Saturday, I have not done much.  I went for a run.  I was enjoying shorter runs since they cancelled the Utica Boilermaker this year.  However, yesterday I quite abruptly and unexpectedly decided to participate in the virtual race.

My original response to the cancellation of the race was, to heck with it, I’ll just run it next year.  I thought, “I can’t run 15K without all the hoopla cheering me on!”  Then I thought, this will be a challenge.  Let’s do this!

It may have been a good idea to do a Saturday Running Commentary Post and cover all this information.  However, I feel largely disinclined toward any such effort.  It is that sort of a Saturday.

So here is my post, and it raises a question often considered in this blog:  Is a lame post better than no post at all?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

I Post with a Little Help from my Friend

Speaking of these things happen, I did not make my Monday post on Monday, so here I sit Tuesday morning typing frantically.  At least, it is not really frantically, since I do not have to rush off to work or anywhere.  However, I am on the laptop, which I am rarely on lately, typing with all ten fingers, so I can make this post a little more quickly, thus posting it closer to Monday.

Bonita is mortified that I did not make my Monstrous Monday post.

I guess if I had a Scattered Sunday I can have a Wrist to Forehead Monday and post it late.  This was our skeleton Bonita back in November.  I like to change her clothes periodically.

One of my favorite shots.

I might as well make Bonita the star of this post, since right now I got nuthin’ else.  At least, I have one good thing to write about, but the pictures for it are in the Tablet and I really wanted to do some ten-fingered typing this morning.  I guess I already mentioned that, proving that I really do got nuthin’.

I do love a fashionable skeleton.

Here is a more recent picture.  Bonita does not look like this right now, because I moved her with the idea that I was going to use the footstool myself, for my lazy feet.  Steven asked, “Where’s our girl?”  I must find another seat for her soon, and perhaps another outfit.  I will be sure to share a picture of her when I do.

I Plunge Into Excuses for Missing a Post

So I missed making my usual Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, and I was about to call it my Wrist to Sunday post, so perhaps I am finally losing what is left of my mind.  Usually when I lose my mind, I can find it where it usually is: in the gutter.  But I digress.

We had toilet troubles again yesterday, necessitating a trip to Hannaford to try another kind of drain unclogger, if they had one.  We were low on coffee and out of apples anyways.  After I got home, somebody shared a  meme from a Hannaford employee scolding that they were open for necessities, not entertainment purposes, could we please show only when necessary!  I felt guilty, because I had not planned on going out at all yesterday.  However, I really, really needed the drain unclogger.  I was getting a overuse injury in one arm from all the plunging.

Incidentally, the clogs were NOT caused by using things other than toilet paper.  We know better than that.  I think my husband and I are just more full of shit than normal, and that is quire a lot of shit, if you will pardon my language.  But I did not mean to make another Plumbing Post (a new category I may have to add).  By the way, the drain unclogger worked.  Phew!

And now I am over 200 words.  I call that respectable for a late apologetic post.  I will try for a better post later today.  Perhaps with pictures.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Not Useful But Perhaps Entertaining

Yes, my days are blurring one into another, as the Quackenbush Quarantine (as my husband Steven dubbed it) continues.  And yet I will indulge in Lame Post Friday.  For one reason, it is difficult to make a post that is not at least somewhat lame these days.  If I was a more talented and imaginative writer, my posts would be better, and here we come to the ugly truth about me.

But never mind that.  Let me just make a blog post and try to be as entertaining as possible while I do it.

Quarantine hair and turkey neck, what’s a blogger to do?

This morning I tried to make a mask from a sock, using a recipe I got from Facebook.  I was not impressed with my results, but of course I took a picture, for the amusement of others.  I may not be a particularly useful sort of person, but at least I am good for a laugh.

At least I am trying to do something to shield my fellow human beings from whatever germs I may have.  I try to stay home as much as possible and to keep my distance when I do go out.  But this is nothing new and entertaining to add to my Lame Friday Post.  What can I add in the categories of random observations and half-baked philosophy?

I guess I got nuthin’. This is nothing unusual.  However, I am over 200 words.  A lame post is best kept short.  Will I come up with something better for Saturday?  Time will tell.  Time is certainly a blabbermouth (a joke I have made before,  but I am rather proud of it).  Happy Friday, all.

Pre 5K Post?

Yes, I am making my Friday post early Saturday, morning.  I just couldn’t make  Lame Post Friday post on Good Friday.  I imagine I have done so before, but of course I am too lazy to go back and check.  Additionally rendering Lame Post Friday inappropriate,  I do not go back to work on Monday after all.  Did I mention that on Thursday?  That is when I found out (again, too lazy to go back and check).

On the not so lazy side, after I publish this, I shall go running.  I hope to do a virtual 5K, sponsored by Rock City Runners of Little Falls, NY.  I may have mentioned this before:  I register  on Run Sign Up Dot Com, pay $10, which benefits Little Falls Food Pantry; run 5Ks all on my own, and upload my results… somewhere.

The uploading is what mystifies me.  Upload what where?  Type 38:52 into… some website?  I pulled that number out of the ambient air as a guess as to how long it will take me to run 5Ks.  I feel quite foolish and ignorant,  but that’s me,  an ignorant  fool.

Never mind.  I am approaching 200 words and the bottom of my coffee cup.  Let’s get this dog and pony show on the road (of course I do not run as fast as either of those nice animals).  I may not know how to upload results, but I can write a blog post about them. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

There’s Always Someone

As time loses all meaning for some of us, I make bold to have my usual Lame Post Friday.  For one reason, I return to work Monday, so Friday will once again mean something.  Not as much as it once meant, with bars and restaurants closed, and wine tastings cancelled at the local liquor store.

Oh dear, that sounded like whining about what is really a very small inconvenience to me, all things considered.  I can just hear people gearing up to say things like, “First world problems,” or, ” It’s better than catching the coronavirus,”  or the dreaded, “Just be thankful that…(you have a job, you can order take-out, the liquor store is open, etc).”  Here is a not so random observation:  it is really difficult to say anything without it being the wrong thing to say according to to someone.

Anyways, I will still be in a time warp next week, because I have Good Friday off.  And what a weird Easter we are all going to have!  At least, those of us who mark the holiday.  I am going to count that as another random observation.

If I could come up with some half-baked philosophy,  this would be a complete Friday Lame Post.  For that, I hark back to my first observation.  It is always wrong according to someone.  It is never enough, according to someone.  So there is no point in worrying if we are good enough.

As I typed that, I was assailed by the thought that this blog post is not good enough, even for Lame Post Friday.  Alas, the thought came from me.  Does that make me someone?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

Addendum:  Apparently I am not going back to work till Monday the 13th.  But I’ll let this post stand, because, well, I’ve already gotten a couple of Likes on it.  You know what a Like junky I am.

Sorry, But I’m Not Apologizing

I guess we all knew this was going to be a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  I went running this morning yet did not feel a Running Commentary post welling up within me. Likewise, no amount of movie watching has made me inclined for a Sunday Cinema post.  These things happen, I suppose.

The fact is, I feel not the slightest obligation to apologize for a foolish post during this stressful time.  Clearly, to run around having Mohawk Valley adventures would be irresponsible.   I am more than willing to risk my own health.   Alas, as is so often the case,  it is not only about me.

So shall I spend the next week or two hiding behind the Corona Virus (or as I prefer to call it, Covid 19) and posting only the lamest material?  That could happen.  I maintain it is the right thing to do, because some people are entertained by my nonsense, and entertainment is a definite service in times of quarantine.

Of course I will attempt to publish the most amusing posts possible.  I fear not much is possible today,  hence my Wrist to Forehead status.  On the other hand,  I am having a fairly enjoyable Sunday.  One cannot have everything.  Even if I have a dreadful day, I will strive to have a better blog post tomorrow.

Just a Fast Excuse

I shall peck out a fast excuse early Tuesday morning (YES, it does not agree with my WordPress timestamp,  I can’t help that) for not posting on Monday.  I might as well admit it, I was too depressed.

It is no use pointing out to myself that my personal situation is not that bad.  I certainly AM grateful that I am employed, that most of my loved ones are somewhat healthy (that is, they do not have Covid-19), and myriad other blessings.  Apparently it is possible to feel grateful and depressed at the same time.

Oh just listen to me whine!  Now I am depressed and embarrassed!  And about to laugh at myself, which is another blessing.  I often laugh at myself.  Sometimes it is not easy being me, but it is often amusing.

So I just wrote (actually hunt-and-peck typed with the stylus on my Tablet) myself into a better mood.  I shall quit while I am ahead, as they advise (you know them, or do I mean THEM, the giant ants?  Oh, I should have had a Monstrous Monday!).  Happy Monday/Tuesday,  everyone?

Scattered Sunday? Or Time to Swoon?

I don’t see why I should not have a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  We’re all stuck home, trying not to spread Covid-19 (such a comfort to call it by a name not shared by a beer or a typewriter).  Nobody can reasonably expect me to have a real Mohawk Valley Adventure.

In fact, I did leave the house, but I hope not in an unsafe fashion.  I went for a nice run this morning.  Later I went to a big box store (no need to name names) for yarn.  Then I went to Little Falls to take a walk along the canal.  I hope to write about it for Mohawk Valley Living magazine.  I hope they like what I will come up with.  In any case, it was a pleasant walk.

After walking and taking a few pictures,  I returned to Herkimer to buy groceries.  I observed a few bare shelves, but I managed to get most of what I was looking for.  I was exceptionally happy to return home for the bra off, sweatpants on, movie watching portion of the day.

I have been enjoying my day but feel a bit guilty about not making a good blog post.  Shall I swoon onto a handy chaise lounge,  posed dramatically with the back of one wrist to my forehead?  I shall decide as time goes on.  I wonder if I could manage a selfie of same for tomorrow’s blog post.
