Be of Good Beer

Note to self: Do not go to the bowling alley for a beer with the guys after work.  Oh, it was fun, and the bowling alley has a very pleasant bar, but one beer easily turns into three when generous co-workers start buying rounds. It actually could have been four or five, but we passed our last upside down shot glasses over to guys with harder heads.  For feeling like a fatty so much of the time, I am kind of a lightweight when it comes to beer.

So here I am Saturday morning making my Lame Post Friday post.  We’ll, what could be more lame than my excuse for not making a post yesterday?  After all, I have been known to drink and type before.  Unfortunately, I have also been known to drink and fall asleep on the couch, which is what I did last night.

I must make a further note to myself to make my Saturday post sometime in the afternoon.  We have plans with our friends Jim, Phyllis, and Kim.  I can pretty much guarantee the wine will flow.

I guess I am showing myself as quite the lush.  It could be true, but I do not always over-indulge.  But when one is hanging out with friends and having a lot of laughs…  In other words, no promises.

At Least I’ve Had Coffee

So it’s my blogiversary and here I am making my Wuss-out Wednesday post early Thursday morning.  How appropriate and SO typical of me these days.  I would like to get back to making actual blog posts instead of continually publishing apologies for my failure to do so.

Well,  I am not exactly apologizing this morning.   I’m not even going to explain why this apology — I mean POST — is late.  It is a dull story and lame excuse (could “lame” be a sign I am looking forward to Friday?   No doubt).  Where was I?

I actually have a couple of things to write real posts about.  I guess my assignment is to write one of them while on breaks at work today.  In the meantime I would like to get this piece of foolishness up to 200 words.   Not for any good reason, I suppose, except that it is the rule I set for myself.

There’s a possible topic for some half-baked philosophy on a future Lame Post Friday:  how important it is to follow arbitrary rules one makes up for oneself for possibly specious reasons?  I can’t begin to answer that question right now, although I have at least had coffee.

Note: not including this note, I am at exactly 200 words.

Lame Excuse, and It’s Not Even Friday!

So I found out that if I go two days without making a blog post, the world does not come to an end.  Well, we knew that, and anyways it is a cliche.  My brain is not firing on all cylinders (cue unkind remarks about my brain’s general lack of cylindrical capacity).

My laptop clicked off as I typed that last sentence.  My husband, Steven, never has any problems like that.  He gets on and the computer stays on as long as he likes.  It must be operator error, but I’m damned if I know what I’m doing wrong.  But I digress.

Digress from what, I ask myself.  I got up early to make a blog post but I have no idea what to write about and, as I said, very little brain to write it with.  I’ll just mention that it was not a problem to get up early since I went to bed practically as soon as I got home yesterday afternoon.  Actually, I ate something, took a nap, got up and took a hot, hot shower with the water pounding on the back of my neck (it felt GOOOOD!), and got dressed for rehearsal.  Then I realized I could not possibly drag myself to rehearsal, much less actually rehearse.  I emailed a lame excuse to the director and stage manager, and went back to bed.  I think it helped.

And the computer clicked off again, just as I typed in that last sentence and was composing the next one in my head.  I was about to say and now I am offering a lame excuse to my blog readers.  By my new rules for myself, I must make two posts on two days now, and then I will be caught up again.  I hope my brain returns soon.
