Nobody’s Perfect

Likewise blog posts.

Yes, it is another post about How I Can’t Write a Post Today.  Or much of anything else.  However, I do have a fascination with writing about not writing.  By the way, I stole the above image from a Facebook page I follow called Writing About Writing.  The fellow that runs it writes a blog, but full disclosure:  I don’t follow the blog.  Come to think about it, none of the blogs I follow are about writing per se.  I wonder what that says about me?  To answer that would probably call for some half-baked philosophy more suitable to Lame Post Friday than Monday Mental Meanderings.

As you may guess by the plethora of lame posts lately, I continue to have difficulty with my writing.  Sometimes it is a question of just not sitting down and getting to it.  However, whenever I do sit myself down, it seems that nothing happens.  I know, one must persevere, and I will.  I’ll let you know as soon as I get some results.

I would like to share with you the actual projects I am having difficulties with.  However, that would be to advertise to the world how close I have come to the deadlines and nothing to show for it.  Oh dear, what if the people I am writing for read this blog?  I’m hard at work!  I’ve finished those projects!  Everything is great!  Not writing?  Me? You must be daft! I am prolific as the day is long!

They say you mustn’t worry what people think, about writing and everything else.  However, right now, the thought of people counting on me, feeling certain that I have written or am writing wonderful things for them… well, it makes me want to finish off this blog post and get back to work on them.  Writer’s Block?  Pshaw!  Never heard of it!

OK, It Was a Trashy Novel

It is National Read a Book Day, and I have just spent most of the afternoon and early evening reading a book.  Never mind which book; my reading choice will not impress you with my taste and intelligence (both questionable at the best of times).  But, obviously, I have been reading, not writing.  So I do not have a blog post.  Please do not judge me on Wuss-out Wednesday.  I will get back to having Mohawk Valley Adventures and writing about them soon.  But I’m not up to that today.  However, I will try to muster up some cheerfulness and maybe a little silliness.

Am I pandering by sharing a picture with so many scantily clad women?

This is one of the cheesy movies I watched on Monday, while waiting for my husband to come home from work.  I was looking for a cheesy image to share and discovered a Facebook page called Scream Factory.  I wonder what other fun stuff they have.

Here’s a more circumspect image.  Just a bit of a boob shot, partially obscured by her dramatically placed arm.

Full disclosure: I have never seen nor even heard of Hell Night.  I just liked the picture.

So I guess the Scream Factory sells Blu-Ray and DVDs of horror movies.  What a useful site.  Of course, I usually find my stuff in the bargain bins at various big box stores (none of which need a plug form Mohawk Valley Girl).

Nothing whatever lurid about this one!

If I ever update my entertainment system and need to purchase Blu-Rays, now I know where to find one of my favorites!  Right now, however, I have this gem on at least two DVD collections.  I do love a movie that involves a severed head.

I have not quite cheered myself up with these cheesy Blu-Ray covers of cheesy movies.  Now I feel like eating some actual cheese.  But I will try for a better blog post on Non-Sequitur Thursday.

Movie Monsters on Melancholy Monday

Good evening and welcome to another Melancholy Monday.  I make no apologies for my mood but neither will I inflict tiresome explanations on my patient readers.  Instead, I think I will cheer myself up by posting a few horror movie pictures, if I can find them.

Right away I hit pay dirt on a Facebook page I recently Liked called B Movie Mania.  A quick browse through their photos and I have four sea-themed photos to share.

Hubba, hubba.

Who could resist the Creature from the Black Lagoon on Loveboat?  How did I miss this episode? I used to watch Loveboat every week!  No, I never had a date in the ’70s.  Are you surprised?  Would I have accepted a date with the Creature from the Black Lagoon?  I think so.  Standing next to him would bring out my eyes.  I’m not one of those people who are prejudiced against inter-species dating.  However, I’m also thinking he could never forget Julie Adams, and how could I compete?

I think this one was a sea monster, although I admit I’m no expert.

I don’t know what movie this creature is from.  He does not look familiar to me.  He looks to me as if he’s coming out to say, “Could you keep it down, folks, decent monsters are trying to sleep!”

“Ah, can we talk about this?”

An alien encounters a sea monster!  How cool is that?  Again, I don’t know what movie.  I’m don’t even know how to research such a thing.  I daresay I am not clever enough to figure it out, and I’m quite sure I’m too impatient to try.  I end on a silly note (and I’ve been so serious so far!).  I’m not even sure this one is from a movie, but I like it.

“Hey, big guy, do you come here often?”

I don’t see why monsters shouldn’t have fun, too.  Now that I have alleviated my melancholy with a little nonsense, I shall sign off. Happy Monday, all.
