Profiles in Monstrous Monday

I am going to do an old fashioned Monstrous Monday,  and I am not going to seek out any new pictures.  I hope to find different words to write, but no promises.

Look at that devilish grin.

This is my current Facebook profile picture: Lionel Barrymore in Devil Doll.  There are actually at least a couple of movies called Devil Doll.  This is the good one.

My hair did not look like this on my wedding day.

I used The Bride of Frankenstein  for my profile picture several times.  Perhaps not this particular shop, but let us not get bogged down in trivial considerations.  There is no point in being didactic.

Why shouldn’t a monster be cute?

I guess my theme now is monsters I have used as profile pictures.  The above is a little cutie I put in a decorative pot that was sent to me by my friend Marsha.

” I could spit in your eye!”  I, on the other hand, could not.

This was another profile picture but not a monster.  At least it is from a horror movie, a gothic horror of the psycho biddy genre.  Is Bette Davis the monster?  Watch Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte and see for yourself.

Accurate.

I close with one of the Bride that I did use as a profile pic.  I liked the saying.

And I like my blog posts over 200 words.  Happy Monday, everyone.  If you’re still keeping track of the days.

Ladies and Lionel on Wuss-out Wednesday

Mid-Week Monsters it is!  I am even more tired then I was on Tired Tuesday!  I’m thinking this is actually going to be Wuss-out Wednesday With Monsters.  These things happen when one tries to be a daily blogger.  At least when one is me.

I could rock that hair do.

Looking at Elsa Lanchester as The Bride of Frankenstein, I begin to question my plan to get a hair cut.  If I kept growing my hair, I bet I could be the Bride for Halloween 2020.  Since Oct. 20 of that year will be my 30th wedding anniversary,  I think that would be a good costume for me.

Great cheesy movie.

Just to continue the female monster theme, here is Wasp Woman.  I wrote a blog post about that one.  I would link back to it, but I cannot recall the title and am too lazy to search for it.

I loves me some Lionel Barrymore.

This is Lionel Barrymore in Devil Doll.  He is in disguise as a woman.  I don’t remember who the miniature woman is.  It is a pretty good flick, not surprisingly,  with the great Lionel Barrymore.

Ooh! Scary!

To conclude with a monstrous female, here is the witchy Mrs, Newliss in Horror Hotel.   I know, I ought to look up the actress’ name.  Oh, what do you want from me on Wuss-out Wednesday?

Lionel Barrymore on Lame Post Friday

Which is the devil and which is the doll?

I pause in our viewing of Devil Doll (1936) starring Lionel Barrymore for this week’s Lame Post Friday.  I LOVE Lionel Barrymore!  This movie is sad as well as creepy, but that adds to its charm.  I have seen the movie before and DVR’d from TCM again, because I thought Steven would like it.  Perhaps I will do one of my movie write-ups on it eventually.

In the meantime, I have a lame post to make.  As a slight break in the lame,  I will give a brief shout-out to one of our favorite local eateries, Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Herkimer, NY.  We sent out for wings, Bosco sticks, and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies.  The wings were what they call Sicilian:  medium sauce plus garlic butter and bleu cheese.  We had never tried them before. YUM!  Bosco sticks we have had before: fat bread sticks filled with mozzarella.  Another YUM!  The cookies had LOTS of chocolate in them.  TRIPLE YUM!  I can feel myself getting fatter as it digests.  I’ll try to eat salad tomorrow.

Full disclosure: I have not howled in a long time.

For now, I am anxious to get back to enjoying my Friday night.  Crochet, a movie, my husband, and a glass of wine.  I may be old and boring, but I like it. Happy Beginning of the Weekend, everybody!
