In My Defense, It’s a Bad Headache

I went for a run earlier today, thinking I could make a Running Commentary post.  It beats a Tired Tuesday post, so I thought.  Well, I’m not too tired to write a post, but I have another blankety-blank headache!  What’s that all about? I haven’t done anything to give myself a headache!  It’s no fair.

So here I am whining about my tiresome ills instead of entertaining my readers.

That was when I paused and went to Facebook (my usual dodge during these blogging woes), where I posted that my head hurt and I couldn’t write.  A Facebook friend encouraged me to continue writing my blog post about having a headache.  To be sure, I have had worse headaches.  For one thing, I am sitting upright typing.  The headache has not made my nauseous (I just tried about twelve spellings of “nauseous” before happening on the right one; where’s my damn dictionary, anyways?).

Continuing to count my blessings, I see it is almost time for Steven to get home from work.  We need to go vote.  After my shower, I put on a cute outfit (although perhaps I flatter myself).

Ooh, I hear him now.

I stopped typing and went to vote.  It is one’s democratic duty.  And it did not take long.  No lines, no waiting.  I love small town living.  Once we got home I warmed up and ate some sausage soup, so I am feeling better about everything.  So this is my Tired Tuesday post.  Run, headache, vote.  Oh, and I did a load of laundry.  I’ll get my act together yet!  I hope to see you all on Wuss-out Wednesday, when Mohawk Valley Girl will be surprised and pleased to have made it half-way through the week.

Does Beer Cure Headaches?

On the brighter side, I haven’t had a headache in a long time.

On the dimmer side, now I don’t want to make a blog post where all I do is whine about how I have a headache.

This is simply dreadful.  I want to make my blog post before going to a beer tasting at Beer Belly Bob’s in Ilion, and this damn headache won’t go away, dammit.  Ah, I see by their Facebook page, the full name of the business is Route 51 Beer Belly Bob’s Discount Beverage Center.  They recently opened.  A work friend of mine is a close personal friend of Bob.  I love small town living.

I hurried home today so I would have time to go running AND get ready to go to the beer tasting.  I got my run done.  Not too long, definitely not very fast, no hills, but, hey, one does what one can.  At least I ran.  I even stretched when I got done, which I neglected to do yesterday (don’t judge).  When I went to take my shower, I wished once again that I had one of those old lady shower chairs so I could sit down while I washed.  Oh yes, I could have taken a bath, but then I would have had to (1) wait while the tub filled and (2) get up out of the tub when I had finished.  Could I fight gravity to that extent?  I did not try.

Once clean, I had to figure out a cute outfit to wear.  No, I don’t HAVE to look cute (cue unkind remarks about how I can’t look very cute anyways).  I just like to.  For one reason, my husband, Steven, is also going to the beer tasting.  I think it is nice to look cute for your husband of over 26 years.  I finally came up with something not too contemptible.  I had been picturing something kind of sophisticated, perhaps featuring a silk jacket.  Then I remembered I was going to taste beer.  I went for an oversized men’s polo shirt and yellow capri pants.  I found my earring made from a Black Label beer can (I only have one, because I lost the other, but that’s OK, because I almost never wear matching earrings).  I put it in the ear with one hole.  In the ear with two holes, I put dangly fresh-water pearls and a silver-and-gold hoop.

I don’t know why I am becoming so detailed, but I just realized I am over 400 words.  For starting with the idea that I could not post anything because of that stupid headache (which I still have, by the way), I think that is pretty good, especially for Lame Post Friday.  Ooh, and my date should be here any minute.  Happy Friday, everyone.

Neither Wordless Nor Wuss

I was all set to do a Wuss-out Wednesday  post when I remembered that some bloggers do a thing called  Wordless Wednesday.   Not that I am usually wordless, nor do I intend to be entirely Wordless now.  But I do have a couple of pictures to share.  So here are two views of me.

Do you even like my feet?

I was hoping for slippers for Christmas.  I quite frankly never pictured these, but I LOVE them.  You can’t imagine how cool it is to look down at your feet and see these big fluffy things.  Unless you have a pair too, in which case,  excellent!

The next was taken last night before Steven and I went out to eat.  I wanted to put on something cute and this is what I came up with .

Steven said, “Hubba, hubba!”

Full disclosure  I purchased the shirt in the late 1980s, when I worked at JC Penney in Potsdam, NY.  I rediscovered them during Leading Ladies (remember?  the show I directed for Ilion Little Theatre), when I wanted to dress fabulously each night to make the curtain speech.  I added the Christmas vest and jewelry last night.

I confess, I thought I looked pretty fine.  So fine, in fact I was the one to say,  “Hey, Steve, take a picture!”

Oh dear, now I’m looking at the picture and seeing my pile of footwear at the bottom of the stairs.  Then again, maybe most people didn’t notice them till I foolishly pointed them out.  Oh well,  these things happen.
