What Would Peter Cushing Do?

I’m thinking all I can manage right now is a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  We had our final rehearsal for Fabulous and Fatal,  the murder mystery we are presenting to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society tomorrow night.  Yikes! Then Steve and I had some dinner at Salvatore’s in Herkimer.  Now we are home, looking at 20/20 on OWN, and feeling a little sorry we did not tune in earlier sooner,  since it is a case we also saw covered on Snapped.

OK, I just scrolled all the way through my Media Library twice looking for a graphic of 20/20.  How do I not have such a graphic? No matter, I suppose.  Only, a blog post pops more with illustration. I wonder if I can find something else.

No, I can’t.

“Then what am I doing here?”

I realized anything could work on Non-Sequitur Thursday,  so I hit on this shot of Christopher Lee as The Mummy.  He looks rather sad.  I don’t remember seeing this movie, but cannot be sure I haven’t seen it.

“I want my mummy!”

I guess he does not necessarily want his mummy, but I thought it would be a funny caption.  There is a window nearby out of which Michael Meyers looks.  I must get a picture of it.

“Haven’t I been in another blog post like this?”

Regular readers will not be surprised that I close with Nosferatu.  I say anything goes on Non-Sequitur Thursday.  If only I can think of a catchy title…

Scream! Scream For Your Lives!

This doesn’t happen to me when I take a nap.

I just finished watching The Tingler after watching The Fatal Hour, which was not the thrill I was hoping for, and a couple of episodes of 20/20 on OWN.

I guess this is going to be a Non-Sequitur Thursday post,  although the title does have something to do with at least the first paragraph (if you don’t get it, watch The Tingler).  That is, I am making a post pretty much just to make a post, so I will blather on for 200 words or so and hit Publish.  At least I will try to be amusing.

I went out adventuring earlier, and had a couple of good ones, at least one of which I hope to write into an article for Mohawk Valley Living magazine (preview of coming attractions).  Then I had a headache and took a nap.  I hoped to get together with my friend Kim,  which no doubt would have made a decent post, but alas, that did not work out.

When it became clear I was home for the night, I poured myself a (second) glass of Pinot Noir and put in a cheesy movie, The Fatal Hour with Boris Karloff.  I don’t have a picture of it, but you are not missing much.   It is not a horror movie,  it is a detective story.  I only stuck with it because it featured an intrepid girl reporter.  I just love an intrepid girl reporter.

Another shot from The Tingler, just to have another illustration.

There Is No Balcony Scene In Hamlet

No, I did not write a blog post while on breaks at work today.  Judge me if you are so inclined.  I am sitting on my couch,  looking at 20/20 on OWN in a rather desultory fashion,  and waiting for my toenails to dry.

He looks awfully cheerful for hosting all that murder and mayhem.

I thought I would throw in a picture of John Quinones, just to dress thing up a little.

I paused just then to put another coat of nail polish on my toes.  I am LOUSY at painting my own toenails.   Some things are just better left to the professionals.  Oh, I know YOU probably paint your own toenails beautifully,  or else you have “better things to think about” than pedicures.  We’ll, bully for you!  I say it with all appropriate sarcasm.

Well, that sounded bitter and snarky, didn’t it?  “Better things to think about ” is one of my triggers,

This is a good book. I may read it again soon.

I wanted to throw in another picture so picked one that concerned murder.  Did I mention that this is a Non-Sequitur Thursday post?  I thought the title would clue in regular readers.

I hope this post isn’t too mundane.

John Quinones, Can You Help Me Now?

OK, I just searched my Media Library twice, thinking I had a logo from 20/20 on OWN, the show which is currently distracting me from my blogging activities for the evening. And by “blogging activities,” I mean typing words into the computer.  I don’t have the oomph to actually do any activities that are worth blogging about (or blog-worthy activities, as I sometimes refer to them as).  I did find a picture of John Quinones (I think that “n” should have a tilda over it but don’t know how to find one on my keyboard).

I do enjoy the hosts of my true crime shows.

Tomorrow I have some blog-worthy stuff planned. Steven and I are meeting our friends Phyllis and Jim at Jamo’s in Herkimer for dinner.  Then we are going to see The Trip to Bountiful  at Ilion Little Theatre.  I must find an elegant outfit to wear.  I do like to dress up for the theatre (sometimes I pronounce it “thee-ah-tah” just to be extra hoity toity).  The only problem will be I may not have time for my post before the evening and at the end of the evening I may be too tired (do you suppose I should have put some commas in that sentence?  I am usually so good at punctuation).  I seem to recall having just such a problem last Friday.

So I guess this is my Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  For one reason, I have to finish it soon, because dinner is almost ready.  Steven is cooking chicken and potatoes.  He really is a very nice husband.  And on that note, I hit Publish.  Happy Thursday, folks!

Non-Sequitur Sick Day (Have I Used This Title Before?)

So I’m sitting here half-watching a 20/20 on OWN and trying to make my blog post.  I unsuccessfully searched for a picture of the 20/20 logo, to pep up the post, but no luck.  I’m better at finding monster pictures. It’s really interesting episode, to me anyways.  It is the case of Stacy Castor, who killed two husbands with antifreeze.  We have enjoyed other true crime shows about her.

I tried to write my blog post earlier today, while at work.  I only got as far as, “It’s my Friday and I’ll cry if I want to.”  I have tomorrow off, so it is like Friday.  That makes this a Non-Sequitur Thursday right off the bat.

Full disclosure:  I’m not feeling well tonight.  I wanted to bag this blog post till tomorrow, but I have been doing that far too often these days.  What’s a silly blogger to do?  I guess I’ll find a Throwback Thursday picture to share, so this post doesn’t look completely pathetic.

“Want some candy?”

I used this picture two years ago.  It is a delightful witch we got at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit.  I must get back there soon.  I’m sure I need more Halloween decorations.  And maybe a pumpkin or two.  Maybe if I’m feeling better tomorrow.  And we’ll certainly hope for a better blog post.

Murder On My Mind

First a note:  Yesterday when I said I know a guy who I suspect was not as good a writer as he thought himself… That was NOT somebody with whom I am currently acquainted.  It was a guy I knew a long time ago. I never read anything he wrote, either, so he may have been brilliant.  It is still neither here nor there.  On with the blog post.

It is Non-Sequitur Thursday.  I had meant to go running and do a Running Commentary, but I had a headache all day.  I dragged myself through the full day of work rather than burn a half a vacation day.  By the time I got home I felt disinclined to push myself any further (how’s that for a mixed metaphor?  Did I drag or did I push?  I still have a headache).  Just to add a little whining to the mix, because, as I always say, go with your strengths.

“Take me away, Tall, Dark and Gruesome!”

I was looking for a different graphic when I saw this one.  I thought it was appropriately random and on topic.  I was looking for a logo of 20/20 on OWN, which is what we are watching right now.  I always like a little murder and mayhem.

Oh look, I am over 200 words and I have not said much of anything.  I simply must have some Mohawk Valley adventures to write about this weekend.  I’ll start right after work tomorrow.  My headache should be gone by then.  In the meantime, I would like to share a couple more pictures, just in the interests of entertainment.

Here’s a suspicious-looking bunch.

This is the cast from last fall’s murder mystery, A G.R.A.V.E. Murder.  I guess I have murder on my mind (ooh, that would make a good title, although it is not really a non-sequitur.  Still, you can’t have everything).

Now THERE’S a murderess!

This is from the first murder mystery I wrote for the Herkimer County Historical Society, Who Shot JS?  Just to loop back to titles, which I was talking about yesterday and in today’s first paragraph, I did not think up that title.  Titles are hard!

Not Enough Murder on Non-Sequitur Thursday

I am sitting here watching an episode of 20/20 on OWN and loudly calling bullshit on the murderer who is trying to pretend he is innocent.  I need to make my blog post so I can pay more attention to the next episode.  As you may guess, I did not write a blog post while on break at work today nor do I have a brilliant idea for a non-foolish post I can write now.  So it is another Non-Sequitur Thursday.  What a surprise.

This is a four day work week for me, because I fortunately had New Year’s Day off.  On Tuesday, I said, “Yay, it’s not Monday!”  On Wednesday, I said, “Yay, it’s already Wednesday!”  Today I said, “Why is it Thursday and not Friday yet? Damn!”  I am sure other people with a four day week feel the same way. Those of you who worked Monday and/or are in the middle of a more than four-day stretch, just go ahead and turn your nose up at me.  I’ve been there, done that.  Revel in your own virtue and superior work ethic.

John Quinones, News Personality.

I just thought I’d put in a photo of John Quinones, our host.  Only I don’t know how to put a tilda on the first “n” in his name.  My bad.

Ah, the next episode has started.  It seems to be about identity theft, not murder.  The first episode was just the kind of case I like:  a cheating, murdering spouse.  I suppose I have rather sordid tastes.

No matter.  The best thing to do with a foolish post like this is to keep it short, so I will.  I will just throw in another picture for good measure.  Maybe I can find a nice murder in my Media Library.

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of my favorites.

My Halloween Socks Are Clean

A few minutes ago, I thought to myself, “When in doubt, eat ice cream.” I thought it would be a good lead for a blog post, but it seemed ominously familiar.  Once I finished the ice cream, I looked and sure enough, I once made a blog post with exactly that title.  And pinged back on it two more times.  This will be three.

Full disclosure:  It was frozen yogurt and I realize that, even so, it is a poor way to work toward my weight-loss goals.  In my defense, allow me to explain, “Shut up.”  (That is a joke I proudly borrow from S.J. Perelman.)

I just took a break from blogging and looked for S.J. Perelman on Facebook, to make sure I spelled his name right.  I ended up reading part of a Paris Review interview with him.  Then I realized the Friends re-run that was on next was not one I wanted to see, so I got up and changed the channel to 20/20 on OWN.  As you may guess, I am not particularly focused today.  On the brighter side, I am in a much better mood than I was yesterday.

I did a very little writing earlier, on a letter to a friend.  As I always maintain, any writing counts.

Steven just now reminded me that I have laundry in the washer.  Oops.

The laundry is in the drier, except for the items I hang up to dry.  Now, having skipped around in true Non-Sequitur Thursday fashion, I am going to sign off.  I just remembered I was going to paint my toenails tonight.
