Category Archives: pre rehearsal post

Oh, Who Needs a Brain, Anyways?

So here I am, trying to make a Pre-Rehearsal Post. I am feeling somewhat better today, at least well enough to make it to rehearsal. I am happy I have a ride; my friend Kim is picking me up. But do I have brain enough for a blog post? Do I ever? At least I usually do not let the lack stop me.

Did something eat my brain?

I throw in an illustration to pep things up. I wish I could find my picture from The Brain from Planet Arous, but you know my struggled with my Media Library. Anyways, I did not intend to make a Mid-week Monsters Post.

Now that I think about it, I do not know what sort of post I intended to make. I have had a dearth of Mohawk Valley Adventures for some time now. However, unlike my apparent lack of brain, this is a lack I can correct. Not in time for this post, and perhaps not in time for tomorrow’s. However, I will try to do something soon.

So this is my blog post for tonight: yet another post about how it is not a very good post. I wonder how many of those I can get away with. I hope at least one more.

No, I Don’t Know My Lines Yet

I guess I have time for a Tired Tuesday Pre-Rehearsal Post. I started to write a Pedestrian Post before work this morning but did not get very far with it. Additionally, if I want to type in something previously written, the operative thing to do is sit down at our once-laptop-now-dining-room-tabletop. It is more comfortable where I am, lounged on the couch with my Tablet, pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus. So much for my computer considerations.

I forgot to bring my script to work today so could not study my lines on breaks. I did spend some time thinking about my characters (I have two parts) and their motivations. One thing I have learned: if you concentrate on character, it is easier to remember your lines.

I learned this quite by accident back in high school. It was right before a performance, and I was nervous. I felt to look over the lines again would only make it worse, so I started telling myself everything I knew about my character. I figured if I forgot the lines, at least I could ad lib in character. It turned out, I did not have to ad lib.

I guess this makes an adequate Pre-Rehearsal Post: a theatre memory and my little tip to any reader that has to learn lines. Now I have to get ready for rehearsal. Oh, for anybody just tuning in, it is rehearsal for Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare, to be presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company, as part of Little Falls, NY Canal Days festivities in August.

Add Monsters and Stir. I Mean, Hit Publish

How about some Mid-Week Monsters?  It’s a new feature, for when I forgo Monstrous Monday.  It is, in fact, another Pre-Rehearsal Post (I guess that could be a category, too), because we are soon to leave for rehearsal for Donate to Murder, the murder mystery dinner theatre LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company, is presenting at Herkimer Elks this Saturday, Sept. 15.  Steven and I are wearing our costumes, although I do not have pantyhose on (I’m certain my character would wear pantyhose).  Also, I could not find my grandmother’s pearls, which I thought would work for my character (full disclosure: they are not real pearls, but they look nice).  Luckily I have TONS of beads, vintage and otherwise.

What a long first paragraph.  I do babble on, don’t I?  I thought this was going to be a monster post.  Let’s see what I can find.

Not the best depiction of Julia Adams, but a pretty cool poster nonetheless.

Look, I can also include a foreign language lesson.  Sometimes I can so multi-task (although most days I barely manage just to task).  Steven and I just watched Creature from the Black Lagoon on Sunday.  Perhaps you read my blog post in which I mentioned it.  And while we’re visiting foreign countries…

I think this one has better artwork, but I like the lettering in the Spanish version.

And look at me, over 200 words on a Wuss-out Wednesday (I guess this post fits multiple categories).  I do like to include three pictures, so I will pull something from my Media Library.

“Love! Exciting and new!”

I never knew the Creature guest starred on The Love Boat. I suppose he is quite an actor. Perhaps I could use him in a murder mystery sometime.
